Marion Montgomery Lee's manuscripts and articles about the Montgomery family, 1939.

This is the story of the William Montgomery family's journey from Scotland to Enumclaw, WA in 1885 as told by Marion Montgomery Lee. Ms. Lee's mother wrote it at the instigation and encouragement of a local reporter for the Enumclaw Courier-Herald. The article was serialized starting Mar. 24, 1939. The collection also contains the hand-written notes from rewrites of the story. Also included is an abstract of title (history) of the Montgomery family property from the 1880's to Nov. 1920. There are copies of family obituaries.

The Montgomery family arrived in what is now called Enumclaw, WA on March 9, 1885. William Montgomery's brother had been in British Columbia when he bought out a man's equity in 160 acres of railroad land in the district near Enumclaw. When he heard his brother was going to buy a farm in Scotland, he advised him to come to Washington Territory, which they did.
